Fairfax have reported on three Japanese tourists in Australia who attempted to drive their hire car to Stradbroke Island.
The thing about this particular island is that most people take a barge because there is no bridge to the mainland.
Although the mudflats may have looked sturdy enough, they were only able to drive the Hyundai about 500 metres before it got bogged.
Read the story here and look out for my favourite quote that suggested the car's origin may have been at fault: "Maybe if it was Japanese it would be okay."
